Cité Bourgogne

Location:Lane 287, South Shaanxi Road, Huangpu District, Shanghai

Cité Bourgogne, sitting at the intersection of South Shaanxi Road and West Jianguo Road in Huangpu District, is a group of typical old-style lane-connected townhouses built by French merchants in 1930. There are altogether 78 brick-wood two-storey Shikumen buildings, forming a complete lane-connected neighborhood. The Chinese-style archway at the entrance of the lane is unique. Mr. Ba Jin, a famous Chinese writer, once lived here. His former residence is No. 52 Cité Bourgogne. In addition, it also was home to many other famous people, such as Hu Huaichen, Zhang Chenbo, Ping Hailan, etc.
