The former South Railway Station has been transformed into the Start Museum, with its unique roof platform serving as a bridge for art and citizen life dialogue. The coal hopper of the Beipiao Coal Dock has been transformed into the Long Museum, showcasing the perfect integration of industry and art through the preserved coal unloading bridge and clear water concrete material. The original fuel storage tanks for aircraft have been transformed into the Tank Shanghai. The former Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing Plant has been transformed into the West Bund Art Center's A and N Halls. The former Shanghai Cement Plant's pre-homogenization warehouse has been transformed into the West Bund Dome Art Center. These are all innovative reuse of existing industrial spaces, serving as important platforms for the development of cultural arts, technological innovation, and artificial intelligence.
Located on Xuhui Riverside, the West Bund Museum officially opened in 2019. In the same year, it reached the highest level of cultural cooperation project with France's Pompidou Centre. It is one of the core public cultural venues on the “West Bund Art Museum Avenue” and, along with the Long Museum, Start Museum, Tank Shanghai, etc., forms the "West Bund Cultural Corridor".
In September 2024, Gate M West Bund Dream Center, born out of the Shanghai Cement Plant, creating a new concept of cultural, commercial, and travel complex along the 800-meter riverside waterfront. In addition to the Dome Art Center and West Bund Grand Theater, GATE M West Bund Dream Center also brings together various formats and brands such as urban waterfront market, skateboard park, sports trends, and riverside dining, becoming another world-class waterfront destination with cohesion and vitality on the Huangpu River.
