Shanghai Wild Animal Park
Address : No. 178, Nanliu Highway, Pudong New Area, Shanghai
Opening Hours: 9:00–17:00
Introduction: Opening on November 18, 1995, Shanghai Wild Animal Park is one of China’s first batch of 5A-rated scenic spots. It is not only a cozy home for wildlife but also a natural oxygen bar within the metropolis. The park is home to over 10,000 rare and endangered wild animals in more than 200 species from home and abroad, including the nation’s largest troops of golden monkeys and cheetahs, East China’s biggest African and Asian elephant herds, as well as the exclusive Rhinoceros unicornis across the country. China’s “Four National Treasures”—giant pandas, golden monkeys, crested ibises, and golden takins—also live happily and thrive here. The park is divided into three major areas: Drive-through Area, Pedestrian Area, and Water Adventure. They each offer unique experiences with their respective ways of touring. Innovative displays like red pandas on aerial walkways, orangutans strolling in the air, Siberian tigers diving for food, and flamingo parades blend science education with behavioral presentation, achieving education through entertainment. Three free venues—Sun Plaza, Of All Parties, and Ocean Adventure—unveil and decode animal behaviors, and what is even more eye-catching is a one-of-a-kind animal racing show. Visitors can enjoy the fun of dining together with animals at animal-themed restaurants unique to the park, and walk into animal-themed shops with a dazzling array of themed merchandise. Upholding its motto “Serve Visitors Wholeheartedly,” the park will continue to prioritize animal protection and improve animal welfare, striving to become a globally renowned wildlife park where human and nature co-exist harmoniously.
