Introduction:
Gucun Park is Shanghai’s largest suburban forest park. It is located to the north of S20 Outer Ring Expressway in Baoshan District, stretching from Hutai Road in the east to Chenguang Road in the west. With a planned area of approximately 430 hectares, it is a large-scale suburban forest park that integrates ecological protection, scenic appreciation, leisure and fitness, culture and recreation, tourism and vacation, science education, botanical research, and community services. The park is designed to be a suburban forest park themed on “ecology, leisure and recreation” and combining functions like ecological protection, scenic appreciation, leisure and fitness, culture and recreation, and tourism and vacation, complementing traditional urban parks in the role. The park is developed in two phases. Phase I covers about 180 hectares and features the Exotic Garden, Forest Barbecue Garden, Suburban Forest Garden, Forest Stroll Garden, Children Carnival, Forest Sports Garden and Autumn Scenery Sightseeing Garden. Phase II spans around 250 hectares and is based on the plan of “one axis, one arch-shaped belt, three areas, and five cores.”
