Strolling along the south bank of the Suzhou Creek

2024-10-30

From Jiuzi Park, head east along the winding river until you reach Waibaidu Bridge, where the rivers converge, on the southern bank of the Huangpu District in Suzhou Creek. This is the most beautiful 3-kilometer route along the Suzhou Creek and also the route that best reflects the charm of the Suzhou Creek. Classical buildings and modern skyscrapers are scattered throughout, and small local shops and exquisite stores echo each other on the riverside, telling stories.

Of course, when it comes to taking photos and checking in, we can't forget about our Zhapu Road Bridge. To capture the scenery of the Bund in one frame, it is a must to "occupy" Zhapu Road Bridge. Therefore, it is deeply loved by photography enthusiasts and affectionately known as the "Master Bridge" by everyone.

Route points: Jiuzi Park → Most Beautiful Gas Station (Kiss Café) → Zhapu Road Bridge → Former Site of Shanghai Rowing Association → Waibaidu Bridge

Zhapu Road Bridge

The Zhapu Road Bridge is a "hotspot bridge" located on the northern Bund. On the west side of the bridge, you can capture the eastern side of the Shanghai Postal Building in the same frame as the iconic Shanghai skyline. In recent years, it has become quite popular among tourists and photography enthusiasts.

Opening hours: Open all day.

The former site of Shanghai Rowing Association

The former site of the Shanghai Rowing Association was built in 1905. The original location of the boat shed on the east side no longer exists, while the sunken space on the west side, originally a swimming pool, has now been converted into an open-air restaurant. In 1953, the building was taken over by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and transformed into the "Huangpu Swimming Pool," becoming one of the largest public swimming pools in Shanghai. It was here that the first generation of swimmers and rowers of the new China were trained, earning it the reputation of being the "cradle of water sports."

Opening hours: The exterior of the building is open all day.

Wai Bai Du Bridge

Wai Bai Du Bridge is China's first fully steel-structured riveted bridge and the only remaining bridge with an unequal height truss structure. When the colorful lights cast magnificent shadows on the steel truss, blending with the views of Puxi and Pudong, this century-old bridge appears youthful.

Opening hours: Open all day.
