Introduction:
The Shanghai History Museum has basic displays, thematic displays and temporary exhibitions. Basic displays, including “Ancient Shanghai” and “Modern Shanghai,” are in the East Building. The first floor is the Lobby. On the second floor is the “Ancient Shanghai” display. On the third and fourth floors are the “Modern Shanghai” display and the “Epilogue.” Thematic displays and temporary exhibitions are in the South Hall on the first floor of the East Building and on the first to third floors in the West Building.
Besides, the museum gives a full picture of Shanghai’s history by presenting the city’s milestones and major revolutionary and historic events by development stage in light of its architectural features and following the principle of “urban history as the context and revolutionary history as the key.”
