Chen Yun Memorial

Introduction: The Chen Yun Memorial is located in the town of Liantang, Qingpu District, the hometown of Chen Yun, a great revolutionary and a pioneer in economic development after the founding of the P.R.C. Here, you can take a closer look at the life of this great man and the articles for daily use he once used and the Hongqi car he once rode. Visitors can also visit his former residence in addition to the memorial. The memorial comprises a main hall, Chen’s former residence, a gallery of manuscripts and steles and a senior garden. The entire site is quiet and tranquil. In the middle of the square in front of the main hall stands a bronze statue. The square is flanked by corridors and pools and surrounded by pines and cypresses. On the back is a smaller square paved with flagstones. The main hall has two floors on the ground and a basement. There are four exhibition halls, a cultural relics hall, a tribute hall and a Qingpu revolutionary history hall. The memorial houses many objects Chen Yun once used, such as an old leather trunk that accompanied him for decades, a wheelchair he used in his late years, his pipa and music scores, and a Hongqi sedan he once rode for working purposes. There are also lifelike wax figures of some top leaders. Business Hour 09:00-16:30 on Tuesday through Sunday; closed on Monday throughout the year; 09:00-16:30 on official holidays, including New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, May Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day.
