Oriental Land (Shanghai Teenagers Extra-Curricular Activities Campsite)

Oriental Land (Shanghai Teenagers Extra-Curricular Activities Campsite) is located by the picturesque Dianshan Lake, covering an area of 5,600 mu. It was completed and opened to the public in March 2002. It features 16 major scenic spots including Wisdom Avenue, Aircraft Carrier, Lakeside Square, Fisherman's Wharf, Island of Knowledge, Moon Bay, and Global Village, as well as over 30 activities such as High-altitude Adventure at Beehive Tower, Fun Bridge Experience, Camping and BBQ, Water Sports, Team-building Training, and Scientific Exploration.

The Oriental Land consists of several major zones, including the Brave and Wise Zone, Knowledge Avenue Zone, Scientific Exploration Zone, Survival Challenge Zone, Life Practice Zone, Defense Education Zone, and Water Sports Zone.

The Brave and Wise Zone consists of four sections: Beehive Tower, Expansion Area, Brave Road, and Children's Park. It aims to cultivate qualities in young people such as fearlessness, courage, enterprising spirit, and perseverance, while stimulating and enhancing their creativity.

The Knowledge Avenue Zone is a large-scale sculpture group that integrates artistry, thoughtfulness, and knowledge. Along the avenue, there are 169 statues of famous figures from world cultural history, providing rich educational resources in terms of ideas, education, science and technology, art, and humanities.

The Scientific Exploration Zone features a 170,000-square-meter evergreen lawn, over 110,000 trees, more than 400 species of flowers and plants, and over 30 species of bamboo, creating a plant ecology environment. It offers educational resources for young people to step out of the classroom, get close to nature, and enhance their environmental awareness.

The Life Practice Zone consists of the "Global Village" formed by 32 distinctive Chinese and foreign architectural complexes and unique flower combinations. It showcases the cultural differences and architectural characteristics of various ethnic groups, allowing visitors to appreciate the diversity of world culture.

The Survival Challenge Zone offers exciting activities such as off-road traveling and camping, enabling young people to experience the challenges of survival and receive hardship education.

The Defense Education Zone features a 220-meter-long and 46-meter-high replica of an aircraft carrier built to a 1:1 scale. It includes retired J-5 and J-6 fighters, Type 33 submarines, Hongqi-2 surface-to-air missiles, various artillery, and other combat weapons. It also provides realistic simulated battlefields, as well as facilities like the Camouflage Hall, Firearms Hall, Shooting Range, Defense Education Hall, and National Security Hall.

The Water Sports Zone has a 1.75-kilometer coastline along Dianshan Lake and a 2,000-mu inland water area. It offers sailing, paddleboarding, kayaking, rowing, and other water sports activities, allowing young people to understand water while enjoying themselves.

The Oriental Land is the first national youth outdoor activity camp and a research and practice education base for primary and secondary school students designated by the Ministry of Education. It is also the China International Youth Activity Center (Shanghai), a national defense education demonstration base, a national security education base, a national popular science education base, and a national environmental protection popular science base. It is a young and fashionable cultural and tourism complex that combines a national AAAA-level scenic area with multiple resort hotels. It covers defense education, cultural tourism, themed hotels. It can host various activities such as tourism vacations, conference training, team building, wedding banquets, sports events, water amusement, etc., fully meeting the needs of visitors of different ages. It symbolizes the urban culture, civilization, and vitality of Shanghai.
