Changfeng Park is located in the western part of the city center and is the largest comprehensive landscape park in Putuo District. It covers an area of 366,000 square meters, including a water area of 143,000 square meters. It is also one of Shanghai's five-star parks and one of the top 100 famous gardens in China. The design of the park mainly draws on the design of Beijing's Summer Palace and traditional gardens in Hangzhou and Suzhou, combining the elements of mountains and waters.
The overall layout of the park simulates nature, with the lake as the main landscape. The vast Silver Hoe Lake and the 30-meter-high Iron Arm Mountain form the unique scenery of the whole park. There are more than 20 garden attractions in the park, such as the Green Maple Oasis, Sunset Glow, Pine with bamboo and plum, Lotus Pond, and Water Lily Pond, each with its own charm. In addition to natural landscapes, the bronze statue of Lei Feng and the underground Young Pioneers group sculpture also stand in the park, making it a major site for patriotic and communist education for young people and the general public.
Located in the park, Changfeng Ocean World is a national youth science popularization education base, a themed science popularization venue in Shanghai, and a teaching venue for the second phase of curriculum reform in Shanghai. It has been rated as a national AAAA-level scenic spot. It is China's first themed concept ocean aquarium, which opened on the banks of Silver Hoe Lake in the park in 1999.
The main building of the oceanarium is located 13 meters below the surface of Silver Hoe Lake and has a three-story main exhibition structure. It covers a total area of 10,000 square meters and has over 10,000 species of more than 300 aquatic creatures. The aquarium is divided into 8 featured exhibition areas, including Dancing with Rays, Touching the Star Zone, Exploring the Wonders of the Tropical Rainforest, the Secrets of the Deep Sea, and the Shark Corridor. The newly built Stingray Bay-Undersea Vanguard Experience Hall in Shanghai Changfeng Ocean World focuses on the long-term protection and breeding of marine creatures, stingrays. Together with the well-known IP "Undersea Little Vanguard," it recreates the real scene of the underwater Octopus Castle, as well as the Stingray Bay, Dr. Skin's Clinic, Naughty Castle Park, and Art Aquarium, leading visitors on an adventure in the ocean world.
