Caoyang New Village is the first worker's village built after the establishment of New China. In 1951, Caoyang Village was first established. The following year, a large number of advanced workers and labor models of Shanghai moving into Caoyang Village. The Caoyang New Village Museum vividly records the development and changes of the country's first worker's village. As an outstanding historical building carrying the memory of urban history, it was successfully designated as the 6th batch of Shanghai Patriotic Education Base in 2015. It is not only a place for cultivating and inheriting the spirit of labor models, but also a model for community construction and management, as well as an important window showcasing the construction and development of New China.

The museum has themed exhibition halls such as "Labor Model Spirit Display" and "Caoyang Village History Display," undertaking tasks such as receiving visitors, hosting labor model classes, and providing explanations and exhibitions, as well as offering diversified voluntary services such as theoretical preaching, educational culture, and popular science training. The exhibition hall on the second floor, "Remembering the Past, the Thriving Years," showcases the evolution of Caoyang New Village from its construction to 2021. The content covers the establishment of the village, planning and layout, celebration of relocation, the charm of labor models, happy daily life, vibrant commercial activities, and folk exchanges and interactions.

Today's Caoyang New Village, based on inheriting the urban context, creates a higher quality of life for residents and activates new driving forces for regional development. The past glory finds new continuation and interpretation within the profound meaning of "people's livelihood." The exhibition hall on the third floor, "New Century, Reaching New Heights," showcases the journey of the "Xin Xin Xiang Yang" party-building brand in innovative social governance since 2000, as well as the creation of the five suitable (livable, suitable for raising, suitable for tourism, suitable for learning, suitable for business) community life.
