Bund Sightseeing Area
Address : East Zhongshan Road (No.1)
Opening Hours: Open All Day
Details: "The Bund Sightseeing Area, situated along the Huangpu River, is a major historical and cultural site protected at the national level and a renowned historical and cultural area in China. It is home to 52 distinctive Classical Revival buildings spanning various architectural styles, including Gothic, Romanesque, and Baroque. Famously known as the “Exhibition of World Architecture” on the Bund, it stands as one of Shanghai’s most iconic landmarks. In tandem with the in-depth development of the Huangpu River cruise and the Shiliupu Project in recent years, and coupled with the upgrading of the Bund Finance Center (BFC), the Bund Sightseeing Area has continued to expand southward, attracting more visitors to explore its leisure offerings in the southern stretches. In the meanwhile, the Bund Sightseeing Area is actively shaping a vibrant nighttime culture and tourism scene and developing into a destination with depth and character after dark. The eastern extension of East Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street—celebrated as “China’s No. 1 Commercial Street”— now lights up at night, with the renovation linking East Nanjing Road directly to the Bund. Stretching 360 meters, the Fengjing Road Night Market at the BFC features more than 100 stalls, offering both locals and visitors another lively destination for leisure and entertainment along the Bund. Meanwhile, the launch of the landmark “Waitanyuan Weekend Market” on Yuanmingyuan Road has created a fashionable and people-friendly addition to the Bund’s vibrant nighttime cultural and tourism experience. The Bund Sightseeing Area has also hosted a series of events highlighting its cultural heritage and vibrancy of its night economy. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, a spectacular light show illuminated the Bund, showcasing its distinctive skyline and historic charm. To help citizens and visitors better appreciate the history of its 115 heritage buildings, the Bund has introduced a QR code initiative that allows people to access stories and cultural background while admiring the architecture."
