As you wander through the streets of Shanghai, landmark-shaped ice cream offers you a new way to explore the city.
The creative ice cream, being both an artwork and a delicacy, embodies the characteristics of a landmark. Some products have been created by attractions related to transportation.
Huangpu River and Suzhou Creek cruise tours
The Huangpu River cruise is a journey during which you can appreciate the architecture through the heart of the city, also allowing you to observe the tremendous changes in the city.
Suzhou Creek is full of transformations and historical memories, with nearly a thousand years of history recorded on both sides. It is as important to Shanghai as the Danube is to Budapest.
This summer, both cruise tours launched landmark-shaped ice creams which feature diverse elements including the two rivers, a cruise ship, the well-known "four-piece set" in Lujiazui and the mascot YoYo.
There are three flavors to choose from: strawberry, milk and chocolate.
Where to buy:
Huangpu River cruise: available on all cruise ships
Suzhou Creek cruise: only available at Changhua Road Pier (1250 Yichang Road, Putuo District)
Shanghai Postal Museum
The Shanghai Postal Museum is located in the General Post Office Building, one of the masterpieces of European eclectic architectural forms. It is listed as one of the top 10 buildings of the 1920s in Shanghai.
The stamp-shaped ice cream is a combination of a mailbox, Shanghai's General Post Office Building and floating clouds, creating a iconic scene.
There are three flavors available: milk, strawberry and matcha.
Where to buy:
Shanghai Postal Museum, 395 Tiantong Road, Hongkou District
Price: 10 yuan for milk and strawberry flavor (US$1.37), 12 yuan for matcha
China Maritime Museum
The exterior of the China Maritime Museum features two white sails intertwined.
The exhibition area is divided into three floors, with an indoor exhibition area of 21,000 square meters and a collection of more than 800 items, systematically showcasing the development process of China's maritime industry from ancient to modern times.
The museum has launched a three-color ice cream merging flavors of mango, sea salt cheese and milk. The design is based on the museum's appearance and the ancient Chinese ship named "Fu Chuan (福船)," paired with waves and clouds, as if the ship is sailing through the wind and waves.
Where to buy:
China Maritime Museum, 197 Shengang Avenue, Pudong New Area
Price: 25 yuan
