The large-scale solo exhibition "Piercing the Sky" by prominent Chinese female artist Yin Xiuzhen is now open to the public at the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art.

With the help of over twenty materials and diverse vocabulary, the exhibition not only presents the iconic works and latest thoughts of artist Yin Xiuzhen, but also leads viewers on a journey of exploration that extends outward and delves inward with subtlety.

Jade artifacts are a unique and charming category of objects in Chinese civilization. They have a brilliant presence in prehistoric cultures such as Hongshan, Liangzhu, and Shijiahe. The elements of jade culture have been passed down to this day, deeply influencing people's taste and character.

The exhibition is divided into three parts: "Heavenly Spirit - Ritual Jade", "Ingenious Craftsmanship - Display Jade", and "Elegant Beauty - Ornamental Jade". It showcases over 110 exquisite jade artifacts from ancient times to the Ming and Qing dynasties in the collection of the Wuhan Museum. Visitors can appreciate the beauty of jade craftsmanship from different eras up close and fully experience the profound and long-standing Chinese jade culture.

As a brand exhibition of the China Art Palace (Shanghai Art Museum) "What is Haipai" series, the exhibition starts with the significant year of 1912 in the history of modern Chinese art, reenacting a historical moment when masters gathered, talents converged, and Wu Changshuo led the group.

The exhibition showcases nearly 180 exquisite masterpieces with an exhibition area of over 1500 square meters, focusing for the first time on the glorious 15 years from 1912 to 1927 when Wu Changshuo settled in Shanghai. It can be regarded as the largest-scale Wu Changshuo art exhibition in recent years.

The exhibition features a selection of 123 treasures from the V&A Museum that are closely related to the Arts and Crafts movement in Britain. The treasures are showcased in three chapters: "Inspiration," "Craftsmanship," and "Society," which complement each other.

The entire exhibition layout is presented in different colors in all four spaces, showcasing a concise, natural, and layered design. It leads visitors to explore the art movement of the Arts and Crafts under the guidance of William Morris, the father of modern design, and to appreciate the extraordinary charm of the British Arts and Crafts movement from 1890 to 1920 up close.

The exhibition is divided into four chapters: "The Magnificent Palace Outside the Great Wall and the Masterpiece of Garden Art", "Peaceful and Cool without the Heat of War", "Harmony with the Four Seas and Unity of All Laws", and "Stars Surrounding the Moon and the Eternal Construction of the World". It focuses on the historical origins of the Mountain Resort and the Eight Outer Temples, garden art, garden functions, and Buddhist art, allowing the audience to appreciate together the grandeur and elegance of this royal garden, which is "born from heaven and earth, and a collection of creations".

The exhibition is a rare large-scale showcase of the Shanghai-style seal carving in recent years in the city. It displays nearly 270 pieces (sets) of seal carvings, calligraphy and painting works, as well as literary works.

The exhibition is divided into five sections: "Jie, Hang, Wu, Qi," "The First Xi, You," "Lu, Zhang, Qiong, Yuan," "The West Wind Comes," and "Who Determines Success or Failure." While delving into the artistic achievements of the three masters of seal engraving, Lai Chu, Chen Ju, and Ye Lu Yuan, the exhibition also looks back at the diverse and unique styles of the pioneers of seal engraving in modern and contemporary China.

In October 1933, Mr. Lu Xun exhibited his recently collected 66 woodblock prints at 40 Qian'ai Lane (now No. 40 Shanyin Road, Hongkou District). After the founding of the People's Republic of China, these 66 woodblock prints were collected separately in Beijing and Shanghai.

The exhibition starts with the "Catalogue of Modern Writer Woodcut Exhibition" and has found 66 original woodcut works that were exhibited back then from the collections of the two galleries in Beijing and Shanghai. Furthermore, it has meticulously organized the related collections of Mr. Lu Xun's woodcut prints, including his collection, arrangement, exhibition, and publication.
