Shanghai L*SNOW Indoor Skiing Theme Resort in coastal Lingang area marked its second anniversary on Sunday with four official ski slope certifications from the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), upgrading the venue to international competition standards.

The resort now holds the most FIS-certified slopes among global indoor ski venues. Its three slopes obtained four FIS accreditations, covering full-category alpine giant slalom and parallel slalom events for both ski and snowboard across youth and adult divisions.

The certifications verify that the resort's slopes meet strict international standards for gradient, width, surface flatness and safety protection, qualifying Shanghai to host official international alpine skiing tournaments, including ranking events and championships.

Over its two-year operation, the indoor resort has reshaped winter sports consumption in Shanghai and the broader Yangtze River Delta region, turning skiing from a seasonal novelty into urban lifestyle.

To celebrate its second anniversary, the venue launched a series of interactive seasonal activities. The Ski Festival features mystery box skiing challenges with exclusive anniversary gifts for completed missions.

The ongoing "Penguin and Coffee" campaign has become a viral highlight. Visitors can interact with polar penguins, visit a penguin-themed coffee shop and take photos with ice sculptures, blending Shanghai's signature coffee culture with polar winter fun.

Visitor data shows robust growth. The resort welcomed more than 1 million visitors in its first year, with the second-year overall visitor volume growing 30 percent. It recorded over 10,000 visitors daily during the 2026 New Year holiday, hitting its peak passenger flow since opening.

Shanghai residents account for 78 percent of total visitors, while 16 percent come from neighboring Yangtze River Delta cities and 6 percent travel from overseas countries.
