Shanghai Wild Animal Park in the Pudong New Area has rolled out a host of new vacation programs to mark the birthday of a pair of giant panda cubs, dubbed panda month.

The upgraded immersive drive‑through safari tour "Mystery Exploration" takes visitors along winding routes to observe herds of zebras, blue wildebeests and roan antelopes up close. Visitors may also catch a glimpse of the greater one‑horned rhinoceros rarely seen at domestic zoos, together with intimate encounters with giraffes and white rhinos.

Professional guides are on hand throughout the journey, sharing detailed insights into animal habits, ecosystems and wildlife‑protection stories.

Visitors will also find elements of the hit mobile game IP "Eggy Party" everywhere at the park as part of a crossover event.

The city's first locally bred "second-generation" pandas, referring to offspring of a panda also born in the city, Qian Ran and Qian Yi, celebrated their one-year birthday at the park on August 22, marking a major growth milestone for the beloved sibling pair.

Since their public debut during this year's Spring Festival, Qian Ran and Qian Yi have emerged as top celebrities of the park, attracting nearly 2 million domestic and international visitors. Devoted panda fans traveled nationwide to attend the birthday event, saying they had long followed the twins' growth updates and eagerly anticipated their first birthday celebration.

Born on August 22, 2025, Qian Ran weighed 200 grams at birth, while Qian Yi weighed 160 grams. Now one year old, both weigh nearly 30 kilograms with stable, healthy growth indicators.

The sibling pair has strikingly different personalities.

Gentle and considerate toward their mother Qian Jin, Qian Ran prefers quiet independent exploration in daily life yet displays bold, decisive traits when interacting with keepers. Energetic and curious, Qian Yi loves enrichment activities, playful interactions with family and keepers, and shows particular fondness for fresh bamboo shoots and specially prepared formula milk, served twice daily.
