A slew of activities has been rolled out in Huangpu, inviting travelers to experience the downtown district's unique cultural and tourism glamour and contribute tourism itineraries for the ongoing first season of the Shanghai tourism itinerary competition.
In 2023, the 30-episode Chinese TV production "Blossoms Shanghai" premiered and became a hit. It is set in 1990s Shanghai and follows Ah Bao, a street-smart entrepreneur who rises from humble beginnings on Huanghe Road, set against the backdrop of China's reform and opening-up.
Alongside his personal and professional journey, the series offers a rich, atmospheric portrait of Shanghai during one of its most transformative decades.
It was based on Shanghai writer Jin Yucheng's award-winning novel "Blossoms."

A unique exhibition "Blossoms Shanghai & Say Nothing – The Art of Jin Yucheng" based on Jin and the novel is being held at Sinan Mansions.
Blending the identities of writer and painter, Jin engages in a dialogue between the two. On display are Jin's iconic paintings such as "horse" and "Jing'an Temple," each brimming with whimsical ideas and ethereal creativity.
A manuscript exhibition of "Blossoms" is also part of the display, presenting the creation process behind the masterpiece for visitors.
The Yuyuan Garden Malls has been illuminated by dazzling lights from December. The dark night is dotted with pulsating amber lights with drumbeats.
As white lights flash, the gentle interweaving of flutes and yangqin, or Chinese hammered dulcimer, paired with the lingering echoes of strings, creates a soothing melody.
Starting from December 1, the three-minute dynamic light show is staged every half-hour starting at 6:30pm.

The night tour runs from December 5 to 7.
A monthlong intangible cultural heritage season was launched at the Yuyuan Garden Malls recently and runs through mid-December, offering a chance for global visitors to experience China's heritage in a modern and interactive way.
The event features artisans who specialize in traditional Chinese crafts, including embroidery, stone carving and dance. They will demonstrate their skills and offer workshops where visitors can try the techniques themselves.
