The Shanghai Ballet's Swan Lake, which was a huge success when it premiered at the Shanghai Grand Theater 10 years ago, will be staged for two days during the National Day holiday.

The epic ballet will be performed at the SIDC's Grand Theater on October 4 and 5.

Since its premiere, it has received plaudits both at home and abroad. Over the past 10 years, there have been around 300 performances around the world, including in the US, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Australia, and the Chinese cities of Beijing, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Chengdu and Hangzhou.

It has been choreographed by Britain's Derek Deane with an ensemble of 48 "swans" rather than the usual 24 "swans."

Deane, who is also the artistic director, has a stellar reputation in the world of big arena productions and is known for his work with the English National Ballet.
