The first water-culture-themed lifestyle IP event in Shanghai, A Taste of Rockbund International Food Festival, will take place at the Rockbund.
This Friday to Sunday, the festival will offer a land-based nautical experience with food tasting, market hopping, interactive performances, and stamp collecting.
The event is rescheduled to open on October 30 as Typhoon Champi approaches Shanghai.
Nautical passports can be obtained at Booth No. 7 at the market service counter upon arrival. Unlock your traveler identity card by completing an online Water-Persona Quiz. Six water personas are available: Mermaid, River, Sea, Rain, Brook and Lake. Follow your themed route with your ID card to complete missions and collect stamps across venues.
Open daily from 12pm to 8pm, the "Global Harbor" market offers six flavor-themed water lanes, supported by Italian, French, Croatian, and Spanish chambers of commerce. Visitors can enjoy Jiangnan waterfront produce, limited-edition water-inspired dishes from Rockbund restaurants, and authentic Mediterranean and Adriatic cuisines from four European countries. Signature dishes feature Trade Story Cards highlighting ingredient origins and trade routes, ideal for souvenirs and social media posts.
From October 30 to November 1, the free-access Water-Theater will host The Mermaid's Fantastic Drift. Professional actors deliver one full stage show plus roving parades each day between 1pm and 5:30pm.
A series of six afternoon food-focused workshops will run throughout the festival, including cold-brew tea reconstruction, playful cooking sessions, cheese tasting, taste-perception exploration, and tidal-themed hand-drawing and fruit percussion workshops. Workshop spots are limited and require booking via the official Rockbund mini-program. Note that workshops are held off-market at separate locations.
