Radio programs highlight traditional Chinese opera

Special 12-hour radio programs were broadcast on Sunday to pay tribute to traditional Chinese opera artists.


Produced by Radio Shanghai, the programs covering Peking, Kunqu, Yueju and Huju operas were broadcast on FM97.2, FM89.9 and steaming websites Youku and Bilibili.


Traditional Chinese theater artists including Shang Changrong, Cai Zhengren, Mao Shanyu and Gao Bowen were invited to introduce the acts and interact with the audience.


Artists from the local troupes talked about their newly created productions, based on the touching stories of heroes and their fight against the coronavirus epidemic.


Peking Opera performer Wang Peiyu and Kunqu Opera artist Zhang Jun also shared their experiences and innovative efforts to attract younger generations to theaters.
