The Nordic Shanghai Climate Cycling, a low-carbon cycling event, was held in Shanghai's Pudong New Area on Sunday, with nearly 200 Chinese and foreign cycling enthusiasts leading a new low-carbon lifestyle trend.

The 24-kilometer cycling route linked eco-landmarks like Qiantan Sister City Park and Shanghai Expo Culture Park, looking like a green ribbon. Ten Wangjiangyi (a rest house by the Huangpu River) along the way enabled participants to enjoy the river's beauty during the ride.

Participants at the starting point

Lujiazui Binjiang Park, the turnaround point, witnessed the cyclists' resilience and passion. On site, the intangible cultural heritage display blended traditional skills with modern life, and the fun photo area captured many joyful moments resonating with laughter.

Alexander Schandorff of Denmark was among the participants. He is a cycling enthusiast and cycles 80 to 100 kilometers often.

"I've been riding a lot in Pudong, normally, longer, and I have ridden along Dishui Lake many times. I like its beautiful environment," he said. "I really love the bike path in Pudong and today's is more of a relaxed ride."

A delightful ride

India's Himanshu Chaturvedi, who was honored with a Magnolia Award, the city's highest honor for expatriates, last year, lives in Pudong and took his daughter to the event.

"My daughter was born in Shanghai and I have seen the development of Pudong over the past years," he said. "Shanghai's air quality is perhaps one of the best in the world as a big city and we love being here."

"Every weekend, we ride in Pudong and we usually start from the Bund area, the ride is roughly about five to seven kilometers," Chaturvedi added. "Pudong has a very good infrastructure for cycling, which is very supportive, and the environment is very good."

Annina He from Finland has been in Shanghai for only one and a half week.

"I like the mix of new and old. How surprisingly green it is here, and how convenient everything feels," she said. "The city feels safe and clean, which is the most important. I like it a lot."
