Shanghai has discovered a new winter obsession, which is quickly filling up, sizzling and selling out.
Since its opening on November 28 at The MixC Shanghai, the HOCH National Burger Festival · Shanghai Stop has turned Minhang into the city's hottest food destination. In just three days, over 130,000 burgers were devoured, and 500,000 visitors poured in, setting a record for the mall.
The festival brings together over 35 top burger brands from 24 cities, creating a national all-star championship for handcrafted burgers. Featuring Beijing's char-grilled "Black Uncle," Shantou's Chaoshan-flavor "Little Lamb," and Inner Mongolia's grassland-fresh "Kumuni," each booth offers a unique regional flavor experience.
Seven of these brands were included in the 2024 Burger Guide Top 10. The 2025 list will be announced right here in Shanghai.
Part of the frenzy comes from the Shanghai-exclusive releases created just for this stop: blue-peppercorn Wagyu beef burgers, Iberico tomahawk steak burgers, and cheese-dip fruit-and-Wagyu creations. Lines for these specials have stretched up to an hour, and social media platforms are exploding with "Shanghai Limited Burger" posts as foodies team up in groups to share, split, and taste as many as possible.
As the final stop of the 2025 HOCH National Tour, the Shanghai edition has exceeded every expectation and closes the year with major heat: 8 cities, more than 15 million visitors, and 2.4 million burgers sold. The grand finale continues in full swing until December 9.
If you want in on Shanghai's most addictive food event of the season, come hungry, and maybe bring a friend who's good at splitting burgers.
