Five classic animation shorts from Shanghai Animation Film Studio are featured in the film exhibition.
To commemorate the 120th anniversary of Chinese cinema, Shanghai Film Group is presenting a film exhibition at the Shanghai Film Art Center.
Through December 18, a lineup of films spanning varied eras, styles and genres will be on display. Exhibited movies are presented across five thematic sections – restorations of classics, poetic cinema, opera films, new iconic works from the group and representatives of the Chinese School of Animation.
The exhibition weaves together historical depth and contemporary creativity. Among the classic feature films are famed director Zheng Junli's "Crow and Sparrow" (1949) and "Spring River Flows East" (1947), Xie Jin's "Big Li, Little Li and Old Li" (1962), Fei Mu's "Spring in a Small Town" (1948) and Wu Yigong's "My Memories of Old Beijing" (1983).

Urban romance film "B for Busy" is popular with movie buffs.
Some films like "B for Busy" (2021), "Dreaming of Mother and Home" (2024) and "Shanghai Wonton" (2025) focus on the lives and emotions of ordinary people in Shanghai and provide insights into the charm of the city.
Animation lovers can't miss the classic titles and new productions of the Chinese School of Animation.

"A Story about Fire" is a new production of Shanghai Animation Film Studio.
Shanghai Animation Film Studio has selected five short films: "The Proud General" (1956), "Pigsy Eats Watermelon" (1958), "Baby Tadpoles Look for Their Mother" (1960), "Snipe-Clam Grapple" (1984) and "Feelings of Mountains and Waters" (1988), as well as animation features – "The Monkey King" (1961), "A Story about Fire" (2025) and "Nobody" – for the film exhibition.
During the event, timeless classics and fresh creations in Chinese cinema will also be showcased with seven curated introductions and post-screening conversations, inviting audiences to delve into the splendor of China's cinematic heritage.
