Xujing Town in Qingpu District, home to many expats, hosted "Our Festival • Spring Festival," a cultural feast that combined traditional charm and modern style to celebrate the 2026 Spring Festival on Tuesday.

The event featured an "auspicious spring" cultural experience zone. Calligraphy enthusiasts wrote Spring Festival couplets and the Chinese character "fu" (福), while traditional craftsmen demonstrated paper-cutting, Chinese knots, and other crafts.

Interactive activities such as New Year flower bouquet making and sugar painting allowed Chinese and foreign residents to experience the unique Spring Festival culture.

Many American families attending the event wore traditional Chinese costumes and sent Spring Festival greetings to their loved ones abroad through a live broadcast.

"We are experiencing a genuine Spring Festival in China," a foreign resident said. "The warmth and inclusiveness here makes us feel at home."

Jiuzi refers to the "nine games" that were traditionally played in the old lanes of Shanghai. These games include various alley activities such as playing marbles, rolling hoops, hopscotch, and rubber band skipping.

Students from Western International School of Shanghai brought their pet dogs and dressed them in special Spring Festival outfits.

Xujing's intangible cultural heritage soup stir-fry, sugar-coated haws, and warm ginger tea were served, conveying festive joy through taste.
