Pandian Village
Address : Pandian Village, Zhuanghang Town, Fengxian District, Shanghai
Introduction: Pandian Village in Zhuanghang Town covers an area of 7.045km2. With a long history and rich cultural heritage, the village’s origins are recorded in the Guangxu-era “Revised Gazetteer of Fengxian County”: during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, the site was named “Pan Town” after the former residence of Pan Ge, a chancellor of Former Shu—hence the saying “Pandian came before Zhuanghang.” Guided by a vision of “ecology, tourism, leisure and livability,” Pandian has turned its farming heritage into a flourishing travel destination. Continuous improvements in countryside scenery, governance and civic culture have earned it a litany of honors: National Beautiful and Livable Demonstration Village, National One‑Village‑One‑Product Demonstration Village, China’s Most Beautiful Leisure Village, Shanghai Beautiful Village Demonstration Village, and consecutive years’ recognition as a Shanghai Civilized Village. Centered on Pandian Village, the Huami‑Zhuanghang Scenic Area follows a countryside tourism strategy of “creating attractions, linking them into a chain, excavating local uniqueness, and shaping momentum through festivals.” Using the countryside as its stage, the area has successfully established the Rapeseed Flower Festival, the Fuyang (mutton) Festival, the New‑Rice Tasting Festival, and the Folk Customs Festival—together promoting a four‑season countryside tourism experience: “in spring admire the rapeseed blossoms; in summer taste Fuyang mutton; in autumn sample the new rice; in winter enjoy folk customs.”
