The Memorial Site of the 4th National Congress of the Communist Party of China

The winding and scattered green landscape, the spacious sunken square, immerse the Memorial Site of the 4th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in a serene and solemn atmosphere, telling the glorious story written by the Communist Party with truth and blood. The Memorial Site of the 4th National Congress of the Communist Party of China is a historical monument in the process of the Party's exploration of revolutionary theory, the organizational line of mass practice, and the strengthening of its own construction. It has promoted the Party's great leap from a revolutionary group propagating Marxism to a mass political party.

On the afternoon of January 11, 1925, in a stone gate building next to the Hongkou Songhu Railway, 20 Communist Party members including Chen Duxiu, Cai Hesen, Qu Qiubai, and Zhou Enlai, representing 994 party members from across the country, attended the congress. The congress elected Chen Duxiu, Peng Shuzhi, Zhang Guotao, Cai Hesen, and Qu Qiubai as the new Central Bureau, with Chen Duxiu as the General Secretary. The congress amended the party constitution and passed 11 resolutions, including the "Resolution on the National Revolutionary Movement," "Resolution on the Workers' Movement," "Resolution on the Peasant Movement," as well as resolutions on youth movement, women's movement, organizational issues, and propaganda work. After the Fourth Congress, the Communist Party of China quickly grew and transformed from a political small group propagating Marxism into a true mass political party.

The memorial hall has two main thematic displays. The main exhibition tells the background, major events, and historical contributions of the 4th National Congress of the CPC. The auxiliary exhibition showcases the glorious history of the Communist Party of China in the Hongkou area during the period of democratic revolution through abundant historical materials and cultural relics. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the 4th Congress Memorial Hall reopened to the public on May 31, 2021, with a new look. By enhancing the exhibition space, adjusting the visitor route, and integrating scenes with exhibition content, it faithfully reproduces the vivid scene of the 4th National Congress of the CPC in 1925 and provides a detailed description of the preparations and contributions of the congress.
