"Spring Breeze over Jiangnan" by Chen Qi

"Mountains and Peaks, Sketches in Mogan Mountain" by Chen Qi
A solo exhibition of works by veteran artist Chen Qi is currently underway at Hai Pai Art Space.
As Chen's first retrospective show, the exhibition features nearly 600 paintings and porcelains created by the artist.
Divided into four sections – "The Way of Painting," "A Journey of Ink and Wash," " Writing in the Sea of Books," and "The Rhythm of Celadon" – the exhibition reflects the artist's achievements in different subjects, including landscapes, figures, birds and flowers.
The four sections are relatively independent and interconnected.

"Tulip on Blue-and-white Porcelain" by Chen Qi

"Sketches on the Canal Town" by Wu Guanzhong, donated by Zhang Da
"The Rhythm of Celadon" is a collection of Chen's innovative creations of painting on porcelain, echoing his accomplishment in bird and flower paintings on rice paper.
"Writing in the Sea of Books" includes his latest calligraphy works, as it is widely recognized that his ink-wash brushstrokes have some subtle connection with the curves and lines found in Chinese calligraphy.
Born in 1958 in Pujiang, Zhejiang Province, Chen learned painting at an early age.
The artist recently announced the establishment of the Shanghai Chen Qi Culture and Art Foundation, aiming to provide a platform to nurture both young and middle-aged local artists and to engage in sponsoring a series of public welfare activities including exhibitions, publishing, digital art and public art education.
The National Famed Artists Invitation Exhibition was also unveiled at Hai Pai Art Space at the same time. The exhibition showcases over 200 pieces of outstanding artworks donated to Chen's foundation by 167 famous Chinese artists.
