On September 26, 2019, the naming and maiden ceremony for “Piano Land” was held in Xiamen; on September 27 the ship departed Xiamen on its maiden voyage, and arrived at the Tsim Sha Tsui pier in Hong Kong on September 28. In April 2020, the vessel underwent a second shipyard refit and upgrade at COSCO Shipping and Heavy Industry in Zhoushan. In March 2023, it was awarded a class certificate by the China Classification Society for the Green Ecological Technology Shore Power (AMPS) class notation. On February 2, 2024, the ship resumed full operations and made its first call at Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal; on July 25 it departed Wusongkou, officially restarting its China home-port operations. A departure ceremony was held on January 1, 2025, at the Harbour City pier in Tsim Sha Tsui. “Piano Land” has been issued Bermuda certificates, including the Document of Compliance (DOC), the Safety Management Certificate (SMC), the International Ship Security Certificate (ISSC), and the Maritime Labor Certificate (MLC). The ship’s exterior features a palette of azure and pure white evoking sea and sky, teak decks, and a classic tiered stern design. Inside, a four-deck raised atrium topped with a Tiffany glass ceiling incorporates Chinese design elements and domestic tourism concepts. The return of the “Piano Land” marks the full launch of international itineraries with Hong Kong as its home port for China’s first independently operated state-owned cruise, representing a steady step toward international development. The addition of “Piano Land” not only broadens cruise options for visitors to Hong Kong but also injects new vitality into the tourism industry in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.
