Adora Magic City Cruise Ship
Introduction: "Adora Magic City" is a brand-new Chinese cruise brand under Adora Cruises Co., Ltd., dedicated to creating a highend cruise vacation experience truly beloved by Chinese travelers. The brand leverages cultural confidence to drive innovation and integration in cultural and tourism offerings, focusing on three core consumer groups—"new generations”, “new seniors”, and “new middleclass families”. By blending diverse global and quintessential Chinese cultural elements, it builds multidimensional, distinctive cruise innovations. Through EastmeetsWest approach applied in the ship, the brand presents new onboard consumption scenarios — extraordinary wonder, artisanal cuisine, immersive entertainment, and trendy shopping — cocreating with Chinese guests an inspiring, seaborne cultural immersion journey. Adora Magic City is China’s first domestically built large cruise ship. It measures 323.6 m in length, has a gross tonnage of 135,500 GT, stands 24 floors high, features 2,125 cabins, and can carry up to 5,246 passengers. Its name reflects both its Shanghaimade identity and the ambitions of the nation’s first large domestically built cruise ship in terms of product design, artistic design, and experience design. It commenced commercial service with its maiden voyage from Shanghai on January 1, 2024. Exterior design: The ship’s hull livery draws inspiration from Dunhuang mural art and centers on the “Silk Road” theme. It incorporates elements of traditional Chinese aesthetics—such as Dunhuang flying apsaras and the motif of heavenly maidens scattering flowers—blending classic patterns with fluid lines to offer an innovative interpretation of Eastern cultural rhythm. Configuration: Adora Magic City has 15 decks in total, including 2,125 cabins and a maximum passenger capacity of 5,246. The maiden itinerary covers Shanghai, Jeju, Nagasaki, Fukuoka, and Kagoshima (7 nights), offering passengers a rich and varied sailing experience. Not only does the ship feature meticulous hull artwork and thoughtfully designed spaces, but it also blends distinctive dining and entertainment offerings to create Adora Magic City’s unique EastmeetsWest cultural and tourism voyage. Adora Magic City has teamed up with China Duty Free (CDF) Cruises to develop a large dutyfree shop at sea. It is the largest maritime dutyfree shopping center in China to date, providing cruise passengers with a wide range of shopping choices and convenient retail services to enhance their cultural and travel experience at sea. Hull and technical specifications: Adora Magic City has a gross tonnage of 135,500 GT, a length of 323.6 m, a beam of 37.2 m, and a maximum height of 72.2 m. The ship is fitted with 107 systems and 55,000 pieces of equipment, comprising 25 million components, and upon completion had 4,750 km of cable laid. The ship has a total of 28,26 cabins, of which 2,125 are passenger cabins and 701 are crew cabins, covering a combined area of approximately 34,600 m2, and can accommodate up to 5,246 passengers. Entertainment: The ship provides up to 16 decks and some 40,000 m2 of public lifestyle and entertainment space, equipped with a theatre, specialty restaurants, a shopping plaza, an art promenade, a water park, and a wide range of leisure facilities. Safety: For safety, Adora Magic City is equipped with 20 doubledeck lifeboats. Each lifeboat measures 13.35 m in length, 2.5 m in width, and about 4 m in height, and can carry up to 314 people when fully loaded. Software/Connectivity: Adora Magic City’s communications network is an integrated landandsea system combining 5G, WiFi, and satellite communications. In nearshore waters where 5G coverage is available, passengers can seamlessly switch between 5G and WiFi6, with peak speeds reaching gigabit levels. When the ship sails into offshore areas beyond 5G coverage, onboard 5G base stations together with localized compute deployments of the fullscale core network greatly reduce satellite backhaul bandwidth requirements. This enables comprehensive, realtime multimedia interactive scenarios for Chinese passengers in nearshore waters. Entertainment: Adora Magic City focuses on three core consumer groups — “new generation,” “new seniors,” and “new middle-class families” — blending diverse global quintessential Chinese cultural elements to craft a distinctive, multi-dimensional cruise experience. Adora Magic City has introduced multiple wellness-oriented cruise offerings, partnered with CDF Group to build the largest duty-free shop at sea, teamed up with Shanghai Telecom to be a global 5G-enabled cruise, leveraged resources and strengths from the Academy of Arts and Design, Tsinghua University, to create an at-sea “Silk Road” art space, launched the first at-sea special performance with “Mahua Fun” (one of China’s most influential comedy brands), and is presenting a new artistic musical-drama, “Marco Polo: Silk Road Romance”, in collaboration with internationally renowned entertainment company Selection. Itinerary description: Adora Magic City will launch international itineraries with Shanghai as its homeport, sailing to Japan and Southeast Asia. It will also introduce mid- to long-distance routes such as the "Maritime Silk Road" as appropriate, offering a diverse mix of long-, medium- and short-duration travel and vacation options. Shanghai Waigaoqiao Immigration Inspection Station has prepared outbound (port) plans in advance and will provide safe, expedited clearance services for Adora Magic City.
