Yuyuan Road Tourist and Leisure Block is located in the prime section of Yuyuan Road Historical and Cultural District. Adhering to the development concept of "artistic life and life artistic", the block, relying on the century-old history of Yuyuan, has created a new chapter of urban renewal and holistic tourism. It has become a distinctive tourist and leisure destination in Shanghai, combining red cultural heritage, Shanghai style charm, and Jiangnan culture. In 2023, it was selected as the second batch of national-level tourist and leisure blocks, becoming a vivid practice of Shanghai's "cultural brand".

 As one of the 64 roads in Shanghai that will never be widened, Yuyuan Road has witnessed the historical and cultural changes of Shanghai for nearly 105 years, harboring the stories of old Shanghai. Yuyuan Art Life Block was built in the third year of the Qing Xuantong period, and many famous figures such as Kang Youwei, Shen Junru, Fu Lei, Qian Xuesen, and Shi Zhecun have left their footprints here. Yuyuan Road still retains 108 old villas, 60 outstanding historical buildings and immovable cultural relics, and 11 cultural preservation units, including the former residence of Qian Xuesen, which records the living traces of Qian Xuesen, the "father of Chinese aerospace," and the development of China's aerospace industry. The former site of the Bolshevik Editorial Office records the struggle of revolutionary party members and their profound influence on the Chinese revolution.

Through continuous urban renewal, this tree-lined and time-honored small road has blossomed with fashionable and artistic elements. Yuyuan Road Block has carried out comprehensive urban renewal work, including improving the overall appearance of the block, optimizing community commercial transformation, building public cultural spaces, and organizing public welfare cultural and artistic activities. It not only preserves the original memories and local atmosphere of the old street but also incorporates trendy and creative elements, becoming a humanistic block with content, warmth, and interesting features.
