Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal

Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal is located in the waters of the Paotaiwan along the Yangtze River shoreline in Wusongkou, Shanghai. It is the largest cruise port in Asia and the fourth largest in the world. With its silver-colored facade, it resembles bright eyes gazing into the distance, earning the reputation of being the "Eye of the East, a Maritime Painting." The port has a 1.6-kilometer-long coastline and features four large cruise berths, creating a magnificent sight of "four ships berthing together." Since its official opening in 2011, it has received over 2,400 international cruise ships and welcomed more than 15 million inbound and outbound passengers.

After the signing of the Treaty of Nanjing in 1842, Shanghai became a trading port, and Wusongkou played a crucial role in foreign trade shipping. This place has also witnessed multiple military and economic changes in modern Chinese history, such as the Second Opium War and the Battle of Wusong during the War of Resistance against Japan.

With the rapid development of economic globalization and the tourism industry, Wusongkou officially transformed into an international cruise port in 2011. Located at the confluence of the Yangtze River and the Huangpu River, it enjoys a unique geographical advantage. Its establishment has filled the gap of Shanghai Port's lack of dedicated terminals for large cruise ships, laying the foundation for the takeoff of the cruise industry in Shanghai and even China, rapidly growing into one of the busiest cruise ports in Asia. The routes departing from here cover regions such as Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia, making Wusongkou an important transportation hub connecting China with the Asia-Pacific region.

Wusongkou is not only a transportation hub but also a platform for cultural exchange. Every year, tens of thousands of tourists set sail from here to experience the customs and traditions of different countries, and the arrival of international tourists has also driven the development of the local tourism industry. As a result, Baoshan District has developed rich tourism resources, such as Baoshan Binjiang Park, Shanghai Songhu Memorial Hall for the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, and Shanghai Wusong Paotaiwan National Wetland Park, integrating natural landscapes with cultural history, pursuing values of ecology and happiness, and creating a Shanghai International Cruise Tourism Resort that focuses on water-based consumption, including cruises, sightseeing boats, yachts, and water sports.
