Nestled in the central-northern part of Chongming Island, Dongping National Forest Park spans 3.55 square kilometers with forest coverage exceeding 90%. The park capitalizes on its lush woodland assets to realize the vision of “Fragrant Forests, Daily Bliss,” having cultivated a distinctive maritime forest garden. This includes specialty floral installations like the Orchid Garden, Lotus Garden, Hundred-Cherry Grove, Fern Valley, Crape Myrtle Garden, and the kilometer-long Wisteria Promenade—each turn revealing new picturesque vistas that embody the park’s “scenery at every step” philosophy.
Key flowers and locations: Tulips (mid-March, Metasequoia East/West Avenue), wisteria (April, Wisteria Corridor area), cherry blossoms (March-May, Hundred-Cherry Grove area), rapeseed flowers (March-May, Hundred-Cherry Grove area), Chinese roses (May-September, Rock Climbing area and Brocade Lake area), crape myrtles (September-November, Crape Myrtle Garden area), bougainvillea (March-May and September-November, main pathways), and red maples (September-November, Maple Forest Sunset area and main pathways).
