Oriental Musical Instrument Museum of Shanghai Conservatory of Music the first musical instrument museum in China's art colleges. The museum was formerly known as the Exhibition Hall of Chinese Musical Instruments. With support from Shanghai Conservatory of Music's former president Sang Tong, construction started in the summer of 1985. The museum was completed and opened on the 60th anniversary of Shanghai Conservatory of Music on Nov.27, 1987. Modern Chinese musical instruments on display include traditional Chinese folk musical instruments.
