Sun Ke’s Residence-A Graciously Gift from Hudec to Sun Ke.
Between the1920s to 1930s, László Hudec, who had already completed a variety of masterpieces, was planning a golden age of his own. He faced a financial crisis when he designed Moore Memorial Church, which became one of his favorite buildings afterward. Sun Ke, the eldest son of Sun Yat-sen, offered his help at that time. In return, Hudec gave Sun Ke the villa that he had earlier designed for himself at a very low price. That is the beginning of the story of Sun Ke’s Residence, located on No. 1262, Yan’an West Road. Today, what we can see is the building that was meticulously renovated by Shanghai Institute of Biological Products as its new site of research campus.
