Tourists are invited to enjoy a splash of cool summer in Anji County, Zhejiang Province, known for its bamboo forests as local officials announced the opening of the 4th Anji Water Festival in Shanghai to attract travelers from the city.

The festival running through October features fun river drifting at a number of rafting and canoeing attractions such as the Longwang Mountain, Tianmu Mountain, Zhebei Canyon, Zhangwu Stream and Xianlong Canyon, as well as activities at Anji Happyvanko Water Park and Glory: Castle in the Sky, an amusement park in the county.

Water has become the main summer offering of Anji and a tourism industry cluster including water parks, canoeing and rafting attractions and hotels has formed in the county, the local government said in Shanghai over the weekend.

Lucky draws and performances were hosted on Huangpu River cruise ships to promote Anji's tourism resources, and a trunk market was held in the Pudong New Area over the weekend, featuring cultural and tourism souvenirs from Anji.

Anji has more than 1,200 river courses stretching 1,571 kilometers, and is also known for its massive bamboo forests. Tourism has become one of the emerging pillar industries of the county.

Anji and Shanghai have deep roots and the county will boost its integration into the Yangtze River Delta region and make itself into the most attractive summer tourist destination in the region, the county government said in Shanghai.
