| 1933 transforms an old art deco abattoir into a creative hub focused on three core elements: Design ,Lifestyle and Learning. Behind a striking art deco facade, the industrial-chic complex gathers cutting-edge F&B, creative retail, design companies, artists’ guilds, galleries and educational institutions across five heritage-listed buildings. The 32,500sqm complex system of sculpted concrete ramps, flyovers, flowering columns and spiral staircases form dramatic spaces for creative-driven tenants and events, leading to the grand centerpiece: a 1,535 sqm theatre-in-the-round with a polished glass stage and expansive rooftop terraces. Up to now, 1933 has held many high-profile large-scale events including Ferrari’s Formula 1 Party, Rado’s 50 year Anniversary and the After Party of Blueberry Nights’ Asian Premiere. A lavish banquet and catwalk parade was also held with the presence of HRH Prince Joachim of Denmark as part of the Denmark Creative + Fashion Show. 1933 was also the chosen venue for the third annual Shanghai Creative Industries Week last November. The first party of Adidas Original of 2008 and Coca Cola Original Leaf Tea 100% Product Launch also took place in 1933. |

Although there has been a Confucius temple in Shanghai as early as 1267, today's temple was built at its current site in 1855. Offering quiet refuge from the crowded streets of the old Chinese city, the temple, like all Chinese Confucian temples, features a lingxin men (gate) leading to the main hall, Dacheng Dian. To the northeast, the Zunjing Ge, formerly the library, now houses a display of unusually shaped rocks. Southeast of Dacheng Dian, Minglun Tang was a former lecture hall, the Ruxue Shu (Confucian Study Hall) is now a small teapot museum, and back near the entrance, Kuixing Ge is a three-story 20-meter-high pagoda dedicated to the god of liberal arts, and the only original structure left on these tranquil grounds.
Probably the most popular heritage site in the downtown, the temple often hosts fashions shows and releases, incentive tours, annual meetings of trans-continental companies, because this place is a blend of not only modern and ancient cultures, but also a western and eastern cultures.

The Dining Room, designed by Roger Hack-worth and Debra Little, is a modern take on a 1930s interior, a warm, contemporary design that subtly weaves in retro styling cues. For the Crystal Room, which opened in 2001, Hackworth and Little created a glamorous 21st century impression of a 1930s Hollywood movie set, with silver-plated columns and crystal curtains. At M, the spacious balcony and coveted window seats offer the city's best view: the historic buildings of the Bund, the busy Huangpu River and the futuristic Pudong skyline. |

Ideally located in the vicinity of the 2010 World Expo site and adjacent to Shanghai’s latest cultural hotspot, The Cool Docks, The Waterhouse at South Bund is situated east of the city’s old town, which was the focal point for the city’s shipping and trading activities in the 1800s. It is Shanghai’s first cutting-edge design hotel.
The hotel’s design philosophy is based on a blurring or an inversion of internal & external spaces, creating a disorienting yet refreshing spatial experience for guests in search of something out of the ordinary.
The Waterhouse at South Bund is comprised of two buildings: a hotel and an event warehouse.
Adjacent to the 19-room boutique hotel and restaurant is a pillar less multi-purpose event
venue that was converted from a former warehouse. The impressive space evokes the building’s industrial roots while staying true to the neighborhood’s historic past.
The 8,000 square-foot (743 sqm) multi-function warehouse boasts a double-storey ceiling and a flexible, easy-to-convert layout, making it perfect for a wide range of events, including product launches, fashion shows, corporate and sporting events, concerts, exhibitions, weddings, and other promotional activities.
Table No. 1 by Jason Atherton is a casual restaurant that offers a refreshing look at contemporary European cuisine in a cosy, convivial atmosphere. Four communal-style dining tables of unfinished wood add to the sociable environment and make the space conducive for shared dining. The main dining hall and two private dining rooms are set within historic Shiliupu, once Shanghai’s most bustling shipyard.
The Roof at Waterhouse,a rooftop cocktail bar, offers a splendid view of the Huangpu
River and serves up the most creative concoctions and delectable appetizers to guests
who come to this perfect cozy getaway in the city.
Facts At A Glance:
• Total number of hotel rooms: 19 (some with private terrace)
