Located in the middle point of China's coastline from north to south, Shanghai is not only the largest port city on the Chinese mainland, but also boasts the third biggest port worldwide as well as the world's most famous port. The city owns the only passenger wharf in China which has the functions of sea shipping, river shipping and inner river shipping. Shanghai has developed ocean passenger shipping lines with Inchon and Busan ( Pusan ) in Korea as well as Osaka and Kobe in Japan. From Shanghai, the international passenger and cargo ships can leave for more than 400 harbors in over 160 countries. As the city's important gateway, Shanghai port is also the pivot for passenger shipping in East China, for the passenger ships could go up through the Yangtze River to the important city of Jiujiang, Wuhan and Chongqing and also could go along the coast to the city of Qingdao, Dalian and Ningbo . Shanghai port now is consisted of Shi Liu Pu Passenger Transportation Terminal, Gongping Road Passenger Transportation Terminal, and International Passenger Transportation Terminal.
