High-speed train cuts travel time to Lanzhou

People in Shanghai heading for Lanzhou in northwest Gansu Province will be able to travel by high-speed train from Wednesday, according to Shanghai Railway Station.

The service will leave the station at 10:44pm every day and arrive at Lanzhou West Station at 12:51pm the following day, a time of 14 hours and 7 minutes, half of what it used to take.

After arriving in Lanzhou, passengers can travel to other cities with great scenery or cultural relics such as Zhangye, Jiuquan and Jiayuguan before dusk.

Meanwhile, Shanghai South Railway Station will add another nine D-class high-speed trains to Chongqing, Jiujiang, Hankou, Yiwu, Kaihua and Hangzhou from Wednesday.
