A weeklong tea culture event kicked off at Guilin Park in Xuhui District on Sunday, featuring tea ceremony displays, tea classes and tea performances to promote the traditional Chinese culture.

Visitors are invited to sip a number of teas such as Pu’er, Longjing and osmanthus oolong and learn how to make green tea at the park. Spring tea was introduced and book and incense exhibitions related to tea are also being held.

Students from the Wuzhong Road Primary School and Shanghai Southwest Engineering School performed a tea ceremony and culture learned during classes at the opening ceremony. Children also performed tea recitations during the ceremony.

The event was co-hosted by the Xuhui Tea Culture Society and guided by the Xuhui District Administration of Culture and Tourism.

Guilin Park, with its long history, is famed for its fragrant osmanthus and it hosts the Guiyuan tea house.
