First Stamped Postcards for 2018 Issued at Shanghai Tower

2018-01-26

China Post issued the city's first stamped postcards for 2018 at Shanghai Tower on Jan. 26, with landmark photos to promote the city to global tourists.

The series of stamped postcards themed on the city's tallest building have six categories on "impression, vintage, modern, bustling, exploration and hand-painting." They feature photos showcasing Shanghai Tower and its surrounding Lujiazui financial area.

Stamped postcards are a kind of specialized stamp issued by China Post annually. Users can send them directly, without any additional stamp needed. The Shanghai Tower series marks the first official stamped postcards issued in the city this year, according to China Post.

The postcards are available on the 118-floor observatory of the 632-meter-tall tower, the world's second tallest building after the 828-meter-tall Burj Khalifa Tower in Dubai. Visitors can send the postcards through a mailbox on the observatory floor, which is the tallest postbox in Shanghai.

The newly issued postcards are expected to promote the city's image to visitors from across the world at the landmark building, according to the management of the Shanghai Tower.
