Mr. Venture Chen
The warehouse has been well known due to the Defense of Sihang Warehouse from 26 October to 1 November 1937, which marked the beginning of the end of the three-month Battle of Shanghai in the opening phase of the Second Sino-Japanese War.
The warehouse, just across the Suzhou Creek from the foreign concessions in Shanghai and the only European style reinforced concrete building then, was jointly run by four banks and had six stories. Its wall was so thick and solid that Japanese canons couldn't break through them.
Now the top two floors, with an area of 12,000 square meters altogether, are mainly occupied by artists in the industry of design, media and advertisement. These relating industries gathered here have showed a powerful economic influence that 52 companies have offices in the warehouse.
