2025-03-09
From March 8th, Shanghai Qian Gu Qing Scenic Area will kick off the "Crossing Carnival" which will last until May 5th. During this period, Shanghai Qian Gu Qing Scenic Area will transform into a "mobile historical theater," creating an immersive time travel experience of "I Return to the Shanghai Bund." Theme performances, immersive acting, diverse street scenes, and "Shanghai Qian Gu Qing" will blend the ups and downs of the Bund, the fireworks of the alleys, and the modern illusions into the same time and space, allowing visitors to step into the golden years of old Shanghai in the spring of 2025.
A grand feast of future and retro interwoven on the stage
Theme show "I Return to the Bund"
"Welcome back to the Shanghai Bund!" An authentic Shanghainese greeting instantly transports people back in time. A 15-meter-long red skirt spreads across the stage like flames, igniting the scene. @BigBossSweetGiovanna transforms into a robot appearing on the Shanghai Bund; dancers in glowing cheongsams step on stage to the beat of jazz drums, their skirts flying, canes rhythmically clinking, magicians conjuring petals that fill the air, and comedians amusing the audience with physical humor that leaves everyone in stitches...
An intriguing encounter dancing with the classics
Immersed in the excitement
Through the streets of the scenic area, a century dance battle between "Shanghai Aunties" and "Ax Gang" unfolds; the mustachioed "Xu Wenqiang" suddenly bursts into a frenzy of Shanghainese English; at the "Crossing Concert," the English version of "The Flowing River" carries the charm of Shanghai's maritime style; the glamorous "Cheongsam Shop Owner" with wavy hair grabs passersby: "We have new items in our store today, boss!" "Shuhuan" and "Yiping" perform a love-seeking drama in the crowd. Turning onto another street, it's a different time and space, with hopscotch, rolling hoops, spinning tops... The nostalgic game area at the alley entrance is packed with "big kids," as a father teaching his daughter to roll a hoop sighs, "The toys of my childhood are still so addictive."
A profound dialogue with intangible cultural heritage
Diverse scenes of the city
In front of the intangible cultural heritage sugar painting stall, the master's iron spoon moves lightly and gracefully, enveloping the scent of caramel, bringing back childhood memories. Behind the curtain of the shadow play, artists manipulate shadow puppets with nimble fingers, performing ancient stories. Here, traditional intangible cultural heritage crafts are both observable and interactive, allowing visitors to experience traditional skills such as paper cutting, shadow puppetry, sugar painting, and rubbings hands-on.
A grand epic show integrating culture and art
"Shanghai Eternal Love"
The stage dome turns into a vast star map, and the waves of the Huangpu River surge out from the stage. As light and shadow shift, thousands of years of civilization are condensed into a 60-minute journey: the Spring and Autumn Annals lord waves his sleeve, turning the waves into the misty rain of Jiangnan, graceful women weave the soft dialect of Wuyue through time, the wind and clouds of Shanghai Beach and the neon lights of modern times flow in the eyes of the audience.
